Here you can breathe in history and seafaring romance in a unique setting of charming historic gabled houses and idyllic alleyways. And: you can enjoy the pure salty North Sea air!
The Leysiel lock, which separates the fishing port from the open North Sea, has been in place since 1991. Up to eight cutters can pass through here at the same time. This means that the Greetsiel harbor is independent of the tide and the ebb and flow "stay outside". The old Sieltor is over 200 years old and a popular meeting place for Greetsiel guests. This is where the Greetsieler Sieltief flows out.
The access to the Graf Edzard I jetty was made barrier-free for wheelchair users as part of a renovation project.
