Historische Altstadt Stade
The former commercial hub of this city, which dates back over 1,000 years, was the Hanseatic port, which—with its cafés and restaurants—remains the heart of Stade to this day. The award-winning Schwedenspeicher Museum, the Renaissance façade of the Bürgermeister-Hinze-Haus, and the historic wooden crane are popular photo spots.
Visible from afar, the Baroque spire of St. Cosmae Church rises above the rooftops of the Old Town. Nearby is the Gothic hall church of St. Wilhadi with the “Leaning Tower of Stade.” The winding alleys offer ever-changing views, and the wide pedestrian zone, with its many shops, invites visitors to stroll and linger.
