The Rysumer Mühle was built in 1895 as a two-storey mill. After it fell victim to a fire in 1917, it was rebuilt in 1921 as a three-storey gallery mill. Parts of an old Varel mill were used. After the building had already been restored in 1948, the mill had to be shut down in 1964 as the miller was unable to raise the necessary funds for repairs. The octagon and cap were demolished and installed in the Bad Zwischenahn mill. In 1988, the Rysum interest group concluded a 30-year usage contract with the owners of the mill. In the same year, the framework of an octagonal mill was transported from Schleswig-Holstein to Rysum. Reconstruction began in 1989 and the mill was reopened in full working order on its 100th birthday. There is a café in the miller's house.
