Windmühle "Caroline" - Historische OsteDeichroute
Alongside the church, the windmill is Hechthausen's landmark. It was also the site of a centuries-old and important ferry connection across the Oste from Ritzebüttel to Harburg.
It has a rotating cap, based on the Dutch model, which allowed its blades to be turned into the wind.
Its operation was discontinued in the 1960s. The grinder is still in place, but no longer functional.
The mill can only be viewed from the outside.
