Christus- und Garnisonkirche
The Christuskirche and Garnisonkirche in Wilhelmshaven received their double name as a result of a sad event: after the destruction of the neighboring Christuskirche in the Second World War, the Garnisonkirche was also given its name to commemorate it. From then on, the Christuskirche and Garnisonkirche united both Protestant congregations. Inside, in addition to the famous altarpiece "Through the Cross to the Light", there are numerous maritime memorial plaques, coats of arms and flags from the imperial era as well as the grave of an unknown sailor. Also atmospheric are the vividly colored stained glass windows by I. O. Lim, which shine beautifully in daylight and tell the story of Jesus.
