The church was built at the beginning of the 13th century. The choir contains late Gothic paintings depicting the apostles Peter, James and John as well as the patron saints of this church, St. Cosmas and Damian. The altar was built in 1749 using parts of an older altar and restored in this version in 2004.
The crucifixion group integrated into the altar and the twelve apostles are carved from oak and date from the first half of the 15th century. The pulpit dates from 1634 and is the work of Münstermann's pupil Ommo Dirks. The organ was built in 1807/1808 by the organ builder Gerhard Schmid from Leer. It has ten stops in the manual and five in the pedal.
