The Harlingerland is reminiscent of ancient Atlantis, as some parts of the marsh landscape have sunk with entire villages in recent centuries due to rising sea levels. The exhibition in the Peldemühle building ensemble shows impressive finds from the submerged landscape and the town of Esens. By the way: In the clockmaker's workshop of "Hansi Ticktack" it still ticks properly!
The Peldemühle Esens is a two-storey gallery windmill. Among other things, it used peeling stones to peel (=peel) barley into pearl barley, hence the name Peldemühle.
