As early as 1910, the “Association for History and Antiquities” began building an open-air museum on the site. Half-timbered houses from the region, a post mill, and a 17th-century capstan, together with an Altländer ceremonial gate, a stone oven, a wagon shed, and various agricultural tools, make up the museum complex. In the so-called “Altländer Haus,” visitors can still marvel at the original furnishings spanning two centuries.

Das Freilichtmuseum liegt am Rande der historischen Altstadt von Stade. Von der A26 der Ausschilderung Richtung Innenstadt folgen.
